Ms Madeline Cordingley, MAPS
Madeline Cordingley has obtained a Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) and a Master of Clinical Psychology from the University of Newcastle. She a Newcastle based Psychologist whom is registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), and an endorsed Clinical Psychologist with AHPRA. Madeline is recognised as a Member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS). Madeline holds a Supervising Clinical Psychologist position at Oracle Psychology and provides Supervision to other team members. She is a Board Approved Supervisor with the Psychology Board of Australia (PsyBA).
Madeline has experience working with clients with complex mental health concerns and complex family dynamics. She has worked as a clinician in educational, inpatient and outpatient settings.
Madeline has experience with a number of therapeutic models including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), the Gottman Model (Couples Therapy) and Eye-Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), She is also trained in both Cognitive Behavioural Therapy - Enhanced (CBT-E) and Family Based Therapy (FBT) for Eating Disorders. Her professional interests include attachment and relationships across the lifespan, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), eating disorders, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, suicidality, and complex trauma.
Madeline’s research has been based around the mother-infant relationship and Infant Directed Speech (IDS), as well as adult attachment. This has included the relationship to social anhedonia and dispositional mindfulness.
Madeline engages with clients using a positive, energetic and supportive style. She believes that authenticity is an important aspect of her practice. She enjoys working with children and adolescents, families, couples and adults, and maintains an approach that is person-centred, trauma-informed and systems-based. She has worked with a range of ages and prides herself on being able to build rapport with individuals in an effective and genuine way.
