Ms Madeline Cordingley, MAPS
Madeline Cordingley has obtained a Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) and a Masters of Clinical Psychology from the University of Newcastle. She is registered as a Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), and an endorsed Clinical Psychologist with AHPRA. Madeline is recognised as a Member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS).
Madeline has experience working with clients with complex mental health concerns, and complex family dynamics, predominantly in outpatient settings. She has experience as a Behavioural Therapist, trained in Applied Behavioural Analysis (ABA). She also utilises the Cool Kids program for anxiety in primary school aged children, as well as having experience with the Westmead Feelings Program. Madeline has worked as a clinician in educational, inpatient and outpatient settings.
Madeline has experience with a number of therapeutic models including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), The Gottman Model (Couples Therapy) and Eye-Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), She is also trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy - Enhanced (CBT-E) and Family Based Therapy (FBT), for Eating Disorders. Her interests include attachment and relationships across the lifespan, eating disorders, suicidality, and developmental trauma.
Madeline’s research has been based around the mother-infant relationship and Infant Directed Speech (IDS), as well as adult attachment. This has included the relationship to social anhedonia and dispositional mindfulness.
Madeline engages with clients using a positive, energetic and supportive style. She believes that authenticity is an important aspect of her practice. She enjoys working with children and adolescents, families, couples and adults, and maintains an approach that is person-centred, trauma-informed and systems-based. She has worked with a range of ages and prides herself on being able to build rapport with individuals in an effective and genuine way.
