Provisional Child & Adolescent Psychologist

Mr Travis Boehm, Assoc MAPS
Travis Boehm has a wealth of life experience in a variety of area. He has followed his passion for psychology by completing a Graduate Diploma of Science (Psychology) from the University of Western Australia and then a Graduate Diploma in Psychology Advanced (Honours) from Monash University. Travis is currently registered as a Provisional Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and is an Associate Member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS).
Travis has an active and directive holistic approach to therapy incorporating evidence-based treatments such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Rational-Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness and Motivational Interviewing techniques. He is firm believer that children will flourish if provided with suitable opportunities to explore their potential in a safe and enriching environment.
Travis has been involved for many years in raising awareness of suicide and self-harm among adolescents. He has been involved in various youth group camps and conferences, as well as youth mentoring. Travis is dedicated to working towards an increased awareness of the challenges that are facing today’s adolescents. This includes working to develop resilience in young people so that they might be able to successfully navigate the complex emotional landscape that they face. Travis is certified in safeTALK and Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST).
Travis is currently working on his PhD submission to continue his research considering how hopelessness and helplessness impact on adolescents with a chronic illness and their care givers. This research will be considering the effectiveness of resilience as a protective factor against the development of demoralisation.
