Ms Lucy Rosser, MAPS
Lucy Rosser is a Psychologist in the Newcastle CBD. Lucy is registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Lucy obtained her Bachelor of Psychology (1A Honours) from the University of Newcastle, and her Masters of Humanitarian Assistance from Deakin University.
Lucy has experience working with children and young people, families, and people from diverse backgrounds, and has a particular interest in working with people in the disability and neurodivergent communities. Lucy’s background includes working as a School Counsellor, working across a number of roles in the disability sector, and working internationally in human rights, non-government, and non-profit organisations.
Lucy works from an emotion-focused and strengths-based approach, tailoring her approach to meet each client’s individual needs and therapeutic goals. She believes strongly in a collaborative approach with clients and families, and works hard to build strong and positive relationships based on the understanding that clients are the experts in their own lives.
Lucy draws primarily on techniques from Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness and Self-Compassion based therapies, and Supportive Psychotherapy to help clients move towards their therapeutic goals. She is trained in the Circle of Security program, aimed at strengthening bonding and attachment between children and caregivers.
