Ms Candice Byrnes, MAPS
Candice Byrnes is a Psychologist based in Newcastle whom is registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). She holds a Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) from the University of Newcastle and a Master of Professional Psychology from the University of New England.
Candice has previous experience as a School Psychologist. This is where her passion for working with young people began. Candice is skilled in undertaking psychometric assessments including cognitive, behavioural, emotional and academic assessments. She has a high interest in developmental trauma, working with young people on their sense of self, as well as experience working with anxiety, mood disorders, grief, stressful life events and transitions.
Candice describes herself as authentic, compassionate and laughter loving. Candice utilises various therapeutic approaches to personalise her sessions for each client. She is trained in the use of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Brief Solution Focused Therapy, Dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT). She also has a particular interest in incorporating body-based techniques into her work where appropriate.
In therapy Candice is led by the client's needs and will always work with the priority of having the young person and family feeling comfortable and in control.
