Ms Claire Mortimer, MAPS
Claire Mortimer is a Newcastle Clinical Psychologist registered with the Psychology Board of Australia (PsyBA). She completed her Bachelor of Psychology (1A Honours) in 2009 and her Masters of Clinical Psychology (Distinction) in 2016 at the University of Newcastle. Claire holds the Senior Clinical Psychologist position at Oracle Psychology and provides Supervision to other team members. She is a Board Approved Supervisor with the PsyBA.
Claire has spent many years supporting people with a variety of developmental and mental health issues. This includes complex trauma, eating disorders and complex mental health presentations. She has worked in government and non-government departments including the Out of Home Care (OoHC) sector, family support services and acute mental health services. Claire has experience with a vast range of clients and presentations including sexuality, gender diversity, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and personality Disorders.
Claire enjoys used strength-based and systemic approaches to treatment. This includes a comprehensive formulation, where environmental, physical and social factors are all considered to ensure personalised treatment plans. She uses various modalities depending on the individual and presenting issues. Claire's practice includes Schema Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), anxiety management, emotion coaching/regulaton, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Interpersonal Psychotherapy and Eye-Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) . Claire is also trained in the delivery of the “Cool Kids” program for anxiety management in children as well as teenagers. She especially enjoys utilising Play and Art Therapy, where indicated, and invites a creative and supportive environment in order to support children, young people and their families.
